Scarce 19th Medallion Presentation of Colours Duke of York 1813.
A silvered medallion issued to those who attended the Presentation of Colours to Frederick Duke of York by Queen Charlotte at the
Royal Military Academy in August 1813.
Prince Frederick Duke of York and Field Marshal was the second son of George III and Queen Charlotte. Born Frederick Augustus on 16th August 1763. Frederick as the spare was thrust into the British Army at a young age and was appointed to high command by the age of thirty and promoted him to the rank of field marshal in 1795. He saw much active service through the end of the 1th century and through the Napoleonic wars and an avid supporter of the Military Academy.
This medallion was issued to the attendees in different grades according to rank. The obverse sows the head of the Duke of York and the reverse, Queen Charlotte presenting colours at the Royal Military College.
It is excellent condition retaining most of its original silver wash. It measures 1.75 inches.
