Rare Victorian Rifle Volunteers Award of Merit.
Rare gilded bronze medallion circa 1880’s awarded for merit by the Volunteer League of the British Empire where all ranks of the Rifle Volunteers could be members. Their headquarters was at 2 Southampton Street the Strand, London. Being gilt bronze it was awarded to NCO’s or junior officers. It is in excellent condition showing slight wear to the gilt on the high points and comes in its original case of issue.
The medallion measures 1.75 inches in diameter.
