WW2 German SS Belt & Buckle.

Firstly I have to hold my hands up, I am not an expert in anything SS related, and I do not usually buy it in, but this item came in with an old collection, so can only guide you to what I see. The buckle, I think is made of nickel, it feels a little to tactile for steel and there is no evidence of any rusting. It has the correct size eagle, and it does not compare to any reproduction on the market. The face of the buckle has good natural patination with wear to the high points. The underside of the buckle is the same, a good amount of wear in the right places and well used. It is unmarked, so I believe it is a very early pattern. It comes with a period German black leather belt, which has been well used but it is still quite supple. The tongue of the strap, you can see was once marked but this has all but worn away. The other end is just marked ‘85’. This buckle and belt have been worn together a long time. The wear on both fits each other perfectly and both have the same amount of use. The belt measures 34 inches long.
