Lt Victorian Black Watch Pipers Plaid Brooch.

A very large white metal Plaid brooch worn by a piper of the Royal Highlanders Black Watch on full ceremonial dress. It is good quality with some light wear to the surface and the engraved decoration around the edge. It carries no hall marks and it is not quite heavy enough to be solid silver, but as there is no base metal showing through where it has worn, when this piece was in use, it probably went for re silver plating regularly.
The edge is a little out of shape in one area and there is also a nick to the edge at the 3-O -Clock position. Having run it down, it is a nice original and valuable piece in good order.
It measures 4 inches in diameter.
