Victorian Infantry Officers Sword by Pillin London.

A Victorian 1854 pattern Infantry Officers Sword with Ray skin grip bounded with brass wire, brass guard with short quillon displaying Queen Victoria’s cypher.
It has a long straight blade etched with foliate scrolls and the queens crown and cypher on both sides. At the ricasso, on one side is the inset brass proof button and on the other side the makers mark for Pillin of Gerrard Street London. The mark is in simple form dating this sword to around 1860.
It comes in its original leather scabbard with steel fittings (for field rank) and the whole piece is in very good untouched condition. The blade is nice and clean free from any rust or staining. The fittings on the scabbard have some minor damage with a very light rust bloom in areas, but this should clean off nicely if desired. A very nice example of this type of sword made for proper service, that’s why they have survived. It measures 38.5 inches long.
