1891 Italian Mannlicher-Carcano Carbine Bayonet.
A scarce bayonet made for the 1891 Italian Mannlicher-Carcano Carbine from around 1897, unique by the transverse bayonet lug requiring the bayonet to be placed over the muzzle, then slid sideways on to the bayonet lug from left to right. This arrangement required the bayonet's press stud to be at the rear of the pommel. This one made by Brescia is a good gap filler. The blade was once broken and welded back together, probably in the field. Apart from that, its condition is good but no scabbard. It measures 16.5 inches long.
