WW1 british war and Victory medal correctly named to Percy George Garlick Royal Fusiliers.
Percy Garlick was born in Chaterham Surrey around 1896, his father George was a gardener, and his mother Ellen owned her own Tobacconist and Confectioners in the town. Percy enlisted into the 4th battalion on 14th December 1916 until he was transferred to the 22nd battalion on 7th November 1917 and the 9th battalion on the 13th of the same month, taking part in the surprise attack with tanks towards Cambrai, breaching the Hindenburg Line, but with heavy losses. In early 1918 he saw action in the Spring offensive near the old Somme battlefields and again took many casualties. Percy was lucky surviving the war being discharged in January 1919 having served with the 7th battalion since October 1918. His medals are in very good condition and come with copies of his medal index card, medal roll and census details.
Also included is a death certificate for Edmund Garlick (grandfather) who was found dead in a shed at Birtley House Surrey, where he was a Gardener. The certificate states he committed Suicide during a state of temporary insanity by cutting his own throat. Dated 13th January 1894.
