1914/15 Star Trio etc to Shilton RGA.

An interesting 1914/15 star trio correctly named to 45544 Gunner / Corporal William Henry Shilton of the 13th Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery.
William was born in Chester on 12th June 1892. He lived with his father and mother, Andrew and Harriet with his siblings on the estate of Sir Arthur Nicholas Lindsay Wood, Bart. At the Hermitage in Chester-Le-Street in the County of Durham. His father being the head gardener there and before the war William was also employed as a gardener on the grounds. When war broke out, he enlisted in to the RGA and was placed with the 13th Siege Battery on 25th August 1914 and posted overseas to France in December 1914.
He was promoted to bombardier in 1917 and he served on the Western Front for the whole of the war being discharged in February 1919 at the rank of Corporal. He was treated for D A H and he was awarded a short-term pension. DAH, Disorderly Action of the Heart also known as "soldier's heart", this was a non-organic heart condition resulting from stress or fatigue.
William was discharged on 16th February 1919 having continuously serving four years on the Western Front. His service records are available online, but their condition is poor, I have included copies of the relevant documents.
After the war, he married May, and by 1921 had two small children and he was working as an Insurance Agent with the Prudential Assurance Company. However, by 1939 he is gardening again and living with his wife in Keighley, Yorkshire, where he sadly died in 1977.
Medals are in very good condition and comes with various badges, insignia and paperwork.
