WW2 Soldiers Embroidery Belt.

A WW2 embroidery done by a soldier in India, weather prisoner of war or not it’s hard to say. It was common for some soldiers to do cross stitch to pass the time. This one has brightly coloured wools on a black velvet ground, with different nations flags and to the centre ‘A Present from India to F Ramsey’. The back is made of kaki twill with a small, buttoned pocket. The outer edges are made from military shirt material and the whole thing was hand stitched and over machine stitched, probably later. It was obviously intended to be a belt, but straps were never added.
It comes in superb condition; some wear to some of the stitched and edging. It measures 31.5 inches long.
