WW2 Free French 1st Commando Badge.

WW2 larger size solid brass beret badge of the 1st battalion FM Commando or 1er Bataillon de Fusiliers Marins Commandos. World War II Free French special forces unit. Best known as the Kieffer Commando, the unit was created by Free French officer Philippe Kieffer under the auspices of the British Combined Operations Command. The battalion distinguished itself across multiple critical missions in occupied Europe including The Dieppe Raid of 1942 and D-Day June 6th, 1944, Attached to the British No. 4 Commando. This is an original issued badge with issue number stamped on the back, it is heavy die struck bronze with two hard soldered lugs. It measures just over 1.75 x 2 inches and comes in superb used condition.
