Post WW2 No 9 Socket Bayonet – South African
Produced at the end of the 1940’s to replace the No 4 spike bayonet. It is unmarked and the blade has a different profile to the British manufactured version and the scabbard is slightly different, probably made by ARMSCOR. This bayonet I think is known as the S1 in south Africa. It is in excellent condition with original painted finish and looks hardy used.
It measures 11 inches long.

A wonderful court mounted pair comprising of the Iron cross 2nd class (EKII) of typical WW1 type suspender ring maker with KO for Königliche Muenzamt & Abteilung Orden of Berlin. A superb WW1 era Bavarian Military Merit Cross with swords 3rd class in case of issue. It was Bavaria’s main decoration for bravery and military merit for enlisted soldiers and awarded for extraordinary merit by non-commissioned officers and soldiers.

WW1 German Gold for Iron Token & Certificate.
The token and certificate for the 1916 German appeal for donations of gold to strengthen the Reichsbank and fund the war. This certificate and iron token was given to Mrs A Schuss for the donation of 66 Marks worth of gold; in Hamburg on 21st October 1916. The certificate and token are both in excellent condition, scarce to find them still both together.

The Honour cross or Hindenburg cross was instituted in the July 1934 by Paul von Hindenburg himself, and by government order, it replaced every other veteran’s medal issued.
