The early type C flying helmet, unwired type, leather outer with moleskin lining. This one is not in the best of condition, ear pan missing on one side and both receivers missing. the leather is worn but in good order, all small press stud straps still present. A very good quality WW1 issue Iron Cross. Typical silver frame with a magnetic core and large type suspender ring. The ring is marked with the IVI makers mark, which unfortunately remains unknown.

WW1 Gold for Iron Medal.

The Gold for Iron medal was a patriotic commemorative medallion issued by Germany in 1916. It was given to civilians on the home front who donated their gold jewellery and coins to fund the war effort.
